ABOUT US
The Storm is a competitive select basketball team located in
Fort Worth, Texas, that conducts thorough tryouts for student-athletes at the 18U level. Our program is designed to provide committed and skilled basketball players with the opportunity to improve their personal abilities in a challenging yet rewarding setting. Participants will also gain exposure to team strategies that will better prepare them for their scholastic teams, as well as potential opportunities to play at the collegiate level. By joining our team, athletes will cultivate important qualities such as teamwork, discipline, and accountability under the guidance of our experienced coaching staff.
Team practices occur twice a week, with additional skill sessions and strength training offered exclusively to our team members. Tournament games are typically scheduled on weekends at various gyms in the metroplex area. In addition, The Storm will also travel to a quality overnight event 1x per season.
Meet the Coach
Dr. Troy R. Bell
Dr. Troy R. Bell, EdD., is the Assistant Athletic Director for Fort Worth ISD. With a rich background as a former head boys basketball coach within the district, Dr. Bell brings a wealth of experience to the table. His basketball journey includes playing at the JUCO level for Odessa College, transitioning to Division I basketball at Creighton University, and even competing professionally as a CBA player for the Rockford Lightning, Rockford, IL. In addition, he was a member of the coaching staff that won the 1996 UIL 4A State Basketball Championship at Pampa High school.
Dr. Bell's dedication to the sport goes beyond his playing career, as he has spent decades working at high school and college basketball camps. Currently, he is coaching the select basketball team "The Storm" for his third year and is also celebrating his impressive 19th year as an assistant athletic director. His commitment to basketball and player development is truly remarkable.
